Acupressure for Pain Relief – and More!

So many people live with chronic or regular pain, all over the world.

acupressure for headache migraineNew medicines are released all the time – but even though they generally work well, they often have side effects, and they are not normally green and ecofriendly.

Of course you can use over-the-counter pain medication, and it will generally give you some relief (at least for a couple of hours), but it’s not ideal either.

One alternative is acupressure – a natural treatment for those nagging aches and pains.

What is Acupressure?

Acupressure (a combination of acupuncture and pressure) is an ancient Chinese practice. It’s most often used for chronic lower back pain, migraines, and even to quell vomiting and nausea.

It’s a rapidly-growing natural method of pain treatment that utilizes pressure points to channel relief to trigger points.

When these trigger points (also called potent points) are stimulated through pressure or heat, the natural endorphins in your body that control pain are released.

You can apply pressure in various ways:

  • with hands or elbows
  • an acuball
  • a power mat
  • a spine roller
  • a Teishein, an original acupuncture needle.

You get into a comfortable position and breathe deeply as pressure is applied to one of many points on the body. The tensions or toxins that are currently residing in those points are released as your muscle fibers relax.

As your muscle fibers loosen, so the circulation increases. This causes blood and oxygen to be carried to your pressure points, and so you start to relax while you continue to breathe deeply.

Can You Do Acupressure Yourself?

Yes you can, or you can enlist the help of a loved one, or even a professional.

acupressure how toHere’s how to do it:

Press firmly with a finger in a rotary (circular) movement or an up-and-down movement for several minutes at a time.

There are hundreds of pressure points in the human body, but the 3 most commonly used for pain relief are:

  • the soft area between your thumb and forefinger,
  • the fleshy part between your first and second toe
  • your inner anklebone.

The key is to be patient and consistent.

If you practice acupressure regularly, it can sustain improvement and minimize recurrence of symptoms. You can use acupressure as often as you wish.

Acupressure: More than just pain relief

Acupressure is best known for pain management and relief, but it can also be used as a way to relieve and eliminate tension. It may even help to boost your immune system, so you are less likely to fall ill.

Acupressure is Green

One of the reasons I like acupressure is that it’s useful to try it before resorting to pain medication. It’s easy to do, has no side effects, it’s free, and there’s no manufacturing so it’s very green and ecofriendly.

Modern medicine definitely has its place and is generally effective, but it’s good to try ancient remedies first, because sometimes they really do work!

In everyday life you are surrounded by products with dangerous toxic ingredients (you’ll be shocked at where they hide!). But you CAN avoid them – when you know how. Find out how to protect your family and keep them safe now.
