Sometimes, You Just Need a Boost. Are Energy Drinks the Answer?

You’re working long hours and you’re tired – but there’s still a lot to be done. Or you might have a long study session ahead of you. Alternatively, you know you need to do a really good exercise workout. The obvious solution is to reach for energy drinks.

But do they work?

The answer is – kind of.

You’ll certainly get an energy boost from the caffeine and sugar contained in the drink. But it’s temporary, and you’ll probably “crash” afterwards, and want to eat all sorts of unhealthy snacks – not great for your health!

Also, caffeine is a diuretic, so by peeing more often, you might dehydrate – just at the time when you need to keep well hydrated!

There’s a lot of very clever marketing surrounding energy drinks. So, for example, you might think that you’d burn off extra calories by having more energy to do a better workout – but most energy drinks are full of very unhealthy ingredients.

So, what should you drink for energy?

There’s the simple answer, and then there’s the tasty answer.

First, the Simple Answer

water is a great energy drink! The simple answer is that you should drink water. Not just at busy times, but throughout the day. Staying hydrated lets you use the energy stored in your body.

When you combine enough water with mostly unprocessed, clean and healthy food, you’re all set to avoid crashes and have enough energy to get through your day.

Remember to drink purposefully – don’t just keep on sipping. Drink a glass of water at a time. Then drink another glass a little later. Sipping doesn’t hydrate you properly.

But – I know, water isn’t exactly …… exciting, is it?

Second, the Tasty Answer to Energy Drinks

Luckily, there are tasty alternatives to water!

Make up some fresh juices, full of energy-giving ingredients that are great for your health too!

Here are some yummy ones.
